6 Natural Cleaning Products for Your Home

Having a beautiful home  means you have to clean it regularly too. And cleaning your home is, no doubt, a hectic job. However, what is underrated in this case is the bunch of steps we take while cleaning them.

Grease, oil, hard water deposits, soap-scum are some of the most notorious faces of a dirty décor. And cleaning these requires the use of cleaning products. However, while we tend to use the most sophisticated chemicals for cleaning, we tend to forget that they are still chemicals and can affect the surface they are being used upon, in some way or the other. This might lead to a decrease in the quality of looks, and even durability and longevity. This is why it is suggested to use natural cleaning products, which have no side-effects, whenever possible.

The best thing about natural cleaning products is that you might just find them already present in your kitchen. Or if you are more of the research kind, log in to the Environmental Working group’s website. The organization analyzes the ingredients of thousands of products and makes it available on the website for all to see.

For the simpler minds, here are 6 “natural” ways in which you can clean your home:

  1. Lemon: Quite a popular natural cleaning element, not only does lemon provide a fresh aroma but also does a great job for cleaning. And when added with borax can work wonders. While borax is known for cleaning grease, and dirt, lemon clears soap scum and hard water deposits. To get better benefits, dip a lemon half in borax use it to scrub bathroom floors, kitchen countertops, appliances and other surfaces prone to such dirt.
  2. Alcohol and ammonia: Both of them serve a perfect cleaning solution for glass. 2 cups of water, 2 cups of rubbing alcohol and half a cup of ammonia. Put the solution in a spray bottle and wipe the surfaces with the help of a clean soft rag. While ammonia does the cleaning, alcohol makes the drying up process faster in order to avoid the much-hated streaks.
  3. Baking Soda: A common name in house cleaning, it can be used in various ways. For a soiled area, sprinkle a little baking soda and scrub with a damp cloth. For spills and stains on fabric, mix baking soda and vinegar. Another way to use it effectively by mixing it with water to form a thick paste (not too much) and then scrubbing where needed.
  4. Distilled white vinegar: Distilled white vinegar is great in removing stains of coffee, tea, and rust. It is also effective on alkaline substances, for dissolving scale, getting rid of mold and soap scum. You can also use a diluted form by adding water. Add a drop or two of essential oil to avoid the smell of vinegar. For heavy dirt buildup, soak a rag in vinegar, place it over the area, and leave it for an hour and then scrub.
  5. Vodka: Vodka works the same as vinegar keeping aside the odor. Vodka can be used to clean mirrors, countertops, and appliances. Vodka can also be used in the laundry. All you have to do it put a bit of vodka in your laundry to get rid of unpleasant odors.
  6. Simple Soap: Castile soaps made with olive oil or vegetable-based soaps are both great for the dirt removal. Both of them connect to the soil at the molecular level and allow you to rinse them off with water.

All these 6 methods are perfect for keeping your kitchen clean with the help of natural elements. All of the products mentioned above contribute towards a strong cleansing of dirt without hurting the quality or durability of the surface. Opt for those methods which you find are easy for you to follow and give your home the perfect shine.
